'I do!' 'Me too!' Mr & Mrs Lageu x

I'm shutting out the dull January drizzle and casting my mind back to July of 2013 when my best friend of 21 years got married and I had the honour of not only being her Bridesmaid, but doing her wedding make-up too!

I actually find it more daunting doing the make-up of a friend than someone I haven't met. I don't know why but it's especially nerve-racking when they're very good at doing their own make-up and also when you've somehow never done it before? I don't quite know how I've managed that in 21 years but anyway, I shouldn't have been worried, Faye is absolutely stunning. (I don't even think I'm particularly biased, she just is.)

This shot of us getting ready really makes me smile. It captures the wedding morning perfectly.

Faye wanted a fairly dark and glamorous smokey eye in contrast to her delicate lace and silk gown. I love a contrast and I LOVE a smokey eye!

We settled on a palette of soft warm brown eyeshadows with a subtle bronze shimmer running though and heavily lined with a chocolate brown that smoked up and out. A few wispy individual lashes mixed in with her own and feathered at the outside corners finished the look. The focus was very much on the eyes but it was topped off with a slick of gorgeous coral/peach toned Chanel lipstick. Brides, if you're looking for a wedding day investment what better than a Chanel lipstick? Make it a signature look or save it for special dates with your Hubby- the smell alone will instantly transport you back to your wedding day. *sigh*

I also did my own make-up (No Chanel lipstick though) and then moved on to Faye's lovely Mummy!

Like most Mum-of-the-bride looks this was very much a soft, 'no-makeup' style. I used a light dewy base and for the eyes a natural pinky/taupe shadow and a dark brown smudged down into the very roots of the lashes for definition. Two coats of mascara and a peachy blush swept over the cheeks was all that was needed. (Faye definitely gets her cheekbones from her Mum!) She looks so amazing. Love you Tricia!

And that was it! It lasted through the tears, the laughter, the sunshine, a tiny bit of drizzle, the most fantastic food, endless hugs and dancing the night away in a pair of giant orange sunglasses.

These stunning shots were captured by Steven Barber (www.stevenbarber.com) who totally got Faye and Chris' vision and presented it in all it's colour-popping glory in the images you see here. I really struggled to narrow down my choices but I have to keep reminding myself this is a make-up blog not a photography blog and they're not my photographs to brag about! Thank you to Steve for letting me use them.

And thank you to Mr&Mrs Lageu for letting me share your big day, on this blog and in real life. It really was one of the best days ever and I love you both very much x
